4 parts hot coffee, 2 sugar cubes, 2 parts irish whiskey, 1 1/2 parts fresh lightly whipped whipping cream (no canned crap!). That's it. That is the original recipe for the Irish Coffee created by the Buena Vista Bar's original owner Jack Koeppler and travel writer Stanton Delaplane (a former SF mayor even got in on it) back in 1952.
It's not complicated, its delicious, and they don't make it better (or more of them daily) anywhere than down by fisherman's wharf. They line 'em up, fill 'em up, and serve 'em up all day and night at this San Francisco bar to be consumed by tourists and locals alike. They also have beer and wine and stuff like that... But you know why you're here.
P.S. - So.... January 25th is national Irish Coffee day. See you there that morning. It's okay to drink early, it's coffee!!!
